The Wearable Apparatus is a set of 7 plaster sculptures formed from a feminine body. They were then severed into 2 parts each and coated in colored resin. The pieces were then 3D scanned and reproduced with 3D printing. Then, the products were individually packaged for sale. These forms were worn in a fashion show by 7 different bodies, and they fit virtually no one. The packaged reproductions were then shown for purchase by those who attended the fashion show.
This work is a commentary on current fashion practices that pressure women into altering themselves to fit into an idealistic standard. It also criticizes marketing practices that shame women to sell them more poorly made products that only further enforce the patriarchy.
