The work of LABROC delves deep into the cyclical nature of existence, where consciousness evolves through interconnected parts, constantly restarting and venturing into the unknown. This cycle reflects the journey of cultural transmigration, as we abstract places we have not physically visited and acknowledge the transformative potential of these imagined landscapes.

LABROC emerged as the collaborative effort of Lauren Geisler, Ahenne Selli, Bryn Bingham, Rosbitt Gonzalez, Owen Vollick-Offer, and Curtis Shosted within this studio. Drawing upon their diverse backgrounds and creative expertise, LABROC served as a dynamic working group focused on pushing the boundaries of design research. Their collaboration process encompassed various mediums, including multimedia projection, sound design, and fabrication methods, to explore themes of wear, lifecyles, and collective experiences. This immersive exhibition was then formatted into publication, a critical step in expanding dialogue surrounding the project. Publication has the power to create discursive localities and languages, empowering communities to shape the research process.

Our vision is to create publications within interdisciplinary design practices that serve as dynamic platforms for dialogue, reflection, and action, fostering meaningful connections between publications and the communities they are situated within. Through a balanced approach that combines formal and informal methods, we aim to empower communities to participate in and shape the research process.
