S(Tool)s uses woodworking as a way to examine and resist the capitalist systems we live within. Building stools becomes an act of resistance against overconsumption, by making as opposed to buying. The project follows a poetic design process and operates within a cooperative structure, inviting others to participate in shared labor and mutual support. Each stool is created not just as a functional object, but as a tool for gathering and a prompt for collective action.

To extend the project beyond the studio, I created a series of artists’ books and flyers that share the process, politics, and instructions for building a stool. These printed materials were designed to circulate freely and serve as invitations for others to make their own. By distributing the instructions alongside the objects, the project becomes a vehicle for both education and empowerment, encouraging hands-on resistance to systems of overproduction and passive consumption.
